The Taiwanese government has set an ambitious target to manufacture 100,000 drones each month by the end of the decade. Roughly half of the output is earmarked for export, positioning Taiwan as a major player in the global drone market. In parallel, the armed forces are working toward acquiring 210,000 aerial and maritime drones for operational use.
The production drive is part of a broader effort to transform the island’s defence industry, create high‑tech jobs and secure a reliable supply chain for critical unmanned systems. Officials say the scale of production will give Taiwan the flexibility to replace losses quickly and to sustain prolonged defensive operations if needed.
