Swiss leader receives Indian cheese trio and Kashmiri wood art

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diplomatic gesture to Swiss President Alain Berset included three distinctive Indian cheeses that showcase regional flavors and award‑winning quality. The Gulmarg Brie offers a silky mouthfeel with mushroom‑like notes, the Konark Tomme delivers a salty‑tangy taste finishing with a hint of lemon, and the Yeoor mountain cheese provides a nutty‑sweet herbaceous profile, adorned with rose‑petal and fennel motifs on its rind. Each cheese has secured top honors at international competitions, such as the Super Gold award in Brazil (2026) and gold in Norway (2023). Complementing the dairy gifts, a walnut‑wood wall panel from Kashmir was presented, hand‑carved with traditional Himalayan scenery, human figures, and livestock, reflecting the expertise of local artisans. Additional gifts included a colorful Kachchhi shawl and a delicately patterned Sadeli box, representing Gujarat’s textile and craft heritage.
