Ahmedabad. The Swaminarayan sect of Vadtal in Vadodara, Gujarat is once again embroiled in controversy. This time a rape complaint has been filed against the sect’s Kothari Swami, Jagat Pawan Swami. The case dates back to 2016 when a 14-year-old minor alleged that Kothari Swami of the Swaminarayan temple had raped her. At that time no one paid attention to her. Now, 8 years later, the 22-year-old victim has filed a complaint at the Wadi police station and demanded Jagat Pawan Swami to return her nude photos and videos.
Along with this, the victim has also demanded strict punishment for Jagat Pavan Swami. Currently, Jagat Pavan Swami lives in Vadtal. When the girl was asked who all were involved in this act, she named HP Swami, KP Swami, and JP Swami.
The victim told her story to the media
The victim made serious allegations and said that in 2016 she had gone to Swaminarayan temple in Wadi area with her father for darshan. Swami had taken her father’s phone number. When he called, Swami talked to her and took her number. After this, he used to send messages on WhatsApp daily. One day, on the pretext of gifting her a watch, he called her to the room below the Wadi temple. When she went, Swami raped her forcefully. Swami threatened to commit suicide by consuming medicine and kill her family if she told anyone about the incident. Apart from this, Swami asked her to talk obscenely and send nude photos in the WhatsApp group. He also asked her to do obscene acts by making nude video calls in the group. The victim demanded that H. P. Swami, K. P. Swami and J. P. Swami be given the harshest punishment so that this does not happen to any other girl.
