Sustainable Farming Capacity Building: Nepalese Officials Attend Indian Training
An official delegation comprising fifty senior officers from Nepal’s agricultural department has travelled to India to participate in a five‑day natural farming training programme. The event, hosted at the Gurukula institute in Kurukshetra from 29 September to 3 October, is fully sponsored by the Indian government.
During the course, participants will receive hands‑on instruction in low‑impact farming techniques that prioritize ecological balance, soil health, and water efficiency. The schedule includes field demonstrations, knowledge‑sharing sessions, and collaborative discussions aimed at transferring best practices in sustainable agriculture.
This is the third batch of Nepali officials to benefit from India’s capacity‑building outreach, following similar programmes conducted in September 2023 and August 2025. The repeated engagement signals an enduring partnership focused on strengthening human resources within Nepal’s farming sector.
The embassy’s statement emphasized that the initiative reflects a close, multi‑layered partnership, highlighting India’s ongoing commitment to support Nepal’s agricultural development goals.
In conjunction with the training, the embassy announced a new scholarship scheme for Nepali students interested in pursuing law degrees in India. The scheme will fund tuition, admission, and hostel expenses for up to twenty‑five candidates each year, with a maximum financial aid of 640,000 Nepali rupees, awarded based on academic merit.
