Haryana’s Surajkund transformed into a hub of diplomatic fervor as Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met with envoys from 21 African countries, underscoring a commitment to elevated economic synergy. The Friday discussions marked a strategic pivot in Haryana-Africa relations.
Organized during the prestigious Surajkund Mela, the strategic partnership conclave explored synergies in trade, investment, manufacturing, and tech transfers. Saini portrayed the mela as an international showcase of artisanal excellence and cultural heritage that bridges economies.
Drawing from principles of equity and mutual growth, Saini’s address resonated with PM Modi’s global outreach. He proudly announced Haryana’s pioneering Foreign Cooperation Department, designed to cement long-term ties at the state level.
Haryana’s ascent in agri-tech, industrial output, SME ecosystems, agro-processing, automotive parts, and entrepreneurial ventures positions it ideally for African partnerships. Proximity to the national capital ensures superior infrastructure and connectivity, unlocking expansive collaboration potentials.
Spotlighting agriculture, Saini outlined how Haryana’s prowess in irrigation systems, seed innovation, diversified cropping, farm mechanization, dairy farming, and harvest logistics can fortify Africa’s food systems. Collaborative models with nations like Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Rwanda include joint ventures and skill-sharing initiatives.
Agreements with Tanzanian entities signal boosted commerce and agri-links. Saini extended the horizon to automotive, medical services, digital tech, infrastructure, vocational training, innovation hubs, and small businesses.
On sustainability, he advocated collective action in renewables, water stewardship, and eco-preservation—essentials for legacy-building. Minister Rao Narbir Singh highlighted the burgeoning $90-100 billion trade volume, with India’s imports of energy resources and minerals matched by exports of refined fuels, drugs, vehicles, and machinery.
This multifaceted engagement, spanning services like education and IT, heralds transformative growth, weaving stronger India-Africa narratives.
