Strengthening Regional Security: Iran‑Pakistan Dialogue in August

In a strategic meeting held in Tehran on August 12, Iranian President Masoud Pejshakian and Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi discussed the security dimension of their bilateral relationship. The officials agreed that closer cooperation is essential for maintaining peace and stability across South and Central Asia.

President Pejshakian highlighted Iran's intent to collaborate with Pakistan on border management, counter‑terrorism, and intelligence sharing. He emphasized that coordinated efforts can mitigate cross‑border threats and protect civilian populations.

The Iranian leader also reiterated the need for regular high‑level dialogues to address emerging security challenges. He suggested the creation of a joint security commission that would meet quarterly to assess risks and synchronize response strategies.

Minister Naqvi echoed these sentiments, stating that Pakistan values Iran's partnership in safeguarding mutual interests. He noted that his Tehran visit was a continuation of the recent engagement between interior ministries, aiming to operationalize previously reached understandings.
