Strategic Partnership in Focus as Uzbek FM Saidov Visits Delhi

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyar Saidov reached New Delhi on August 3, marking the start of a high‑profile official tour intended to cement the strategic partnership with India. The Ministry of External Affairs posted a cordial greeting on X, emphasizing the importance of this diplomatic engagement.

The minister will be in India from August 3 through August 5, after responding to an invitation from the Indian government. His agenda includes a ceremonial audience with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and a policy briefing with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

A key component of the program is a business forum that will bring together entrepreneurs and officials to discuss expanding trade, investment flows, and commercial ties. Both capitals are keen to deepen cooperation in sectors ranging from technology and energy to education and transport connectivity.

Prior to the trip, Jaishankar and Saidov exchanged views over a phone call on July 20, focusing on ways to broaden bilateral interactions. The visit also follows the 17th round of Foreign Office Consultations held in May, where both sides reviewed ongoing projects and deliberated on shared regional and international concerns.

Observers expect the delegation’s discussions to spur a new wave of initiatives, especially aimed at enlarging economic collaboration and uncovering fresh avenues for partnership across Central Asia.
