Strategic Partnership Boost as US Envoy Meets Uzbek President

On Monday, United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor sat down with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan to deepen the strategic partnership that has been evolving over the past several years. The conversation covered a wide array of topics, including energy security, trade expansion, and joint efforts to combat trans‑national threats.

Ambassador Gor opened the talks by extending congratulations on Uzbekistan’s 35th independence anniversary and delivering a personal greeting from the U.S. president. He highlighted the importance of political dialogue, parliamentary exchange programs and regional connectivity projects as keystones of the bilateral relationship.

The two leaders pinpointed priority sectors—renewable energy, critical minerals, transport infrastructure, digital technology, AI and modern agriculture—for intensified cooperation. They agreed to accelerate the execution of existing joint ventures and to explore new investment opportunities that could benefit both economies.

The meeting forms part of a broader U.S. initiative to increase its diplomatic footprint in Central Asia, alongside recent engagements with Kyrgyzstan and other neighboring nations.
