Strategic partnership highlighted as India and Japan discuss security and tech

The foreign ministries of India and Japan used the Monday meeting to underline the relevance of their Special Strategic and Global Partnership. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and the Japanese parliamentary team examined avenues to expand cooperation in defence, economic security and emerging technologies such as AI and space. Both parties agreed that a robust economic‑security framework would lower systemic risks and fortify supply chains. The delegation’s visits to IISc, ISRO and BEL showcased India’s capabilities, reinforcing Japan’s confidence in deepening bilateral ties across research, innovation and industrial sectors.
