State Officials Mandated to Report Election Record Tampering to Governor

Assembly Bill 1664 obligates local law‑enforcement agencies and election officials to notify the state administration immediately whenever they take action involving election records or certified voting technology.

The requirement is designed to create a transparent chain of custody for sensitive election data and to prevent covert interference.

Together with the other twelve bills, the measure strengthens California’s defensive framework against both domestic and external threats to the voting process.

Governor Newsom, Secretary of State Shirley Weber, and Attorney General Rob Bonta emphasized that the new legal package will shield California voters from intimidation and unlawful pressure.
