State Department Calls for Global Coordination Against Resurgent Leftist Terrorism

Secretary of State Marco Rubio launched a ministerial summit with delegations from over 60 countries to confront the re‑emergence of left‑wing political terrorism. The meeting, held on July 17, focused on strengthening intelligence sharing, joint law‑enforcement actions and coordinated financial sanctions against extremist networks. Rubio warned that prior anti‑terror strategies have neglected the threat posed by extremist left‑wing violence and pledged that the United States will now treat this danger with the same urgency as other forms of terrorism. He announced a $10 million rewards program for information that leads to the disruption of funding streams for four foreign‑designated extremist groups already listed by the U.S. The United States will continue to add names to the list and work with partner governments to choke off cross‑border extremist financing and recruitment.
