Special Strategic Partnership expands into health, energy and investment

Modi emphasized that the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations is moving beyond traditional sectors. New accords in pharma, medical equipment, and biotechnology aim to combine India's scale with Japan's quality for affordable, high‑end health services worldwide. Energy security was also on the agenda, with plans to install 1,000 biogas and organic‑fertiliser plants under the India‑Japan Bio‑Gas Initiative, and collaborations on battery technology, green hydrogen, and nuclear power. The two sides set a target of ¥10 trillion of Japanese investment in India over the next decade, alongside a goal to double the number of Japanese firms operating in the country.
