South‑South Peer Learning Mission Continues as Liberian Delegation Visits India

The ongoing South‑South peer‑learning mission brings a Liberian delegation to India, overlapping with Foreign Minister Sara Bessolo Nyanti’s official visit. The mission, coordinated by UN Women Liberia and funded through the India‑Brazil‑South Africa (IBSA) initiative, runs from 10 to 15 August.

Comprising 15 members from Liberia’s Senate, House of Representatives and the Secretariat, the team is engaged in a project titled “Women Legislators in Liberia: Promoting Voice, Sustainable Development, Leadership and Gender‑Responsive Governance.” The program aims to empower female parliamentarians and share best practices on inclusive policy‑making.

During the stay, the delegation will meet Indian officials, including Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, to discuss collaborative projects in education, health, trade and capacity building. The broader goal is to reinforce the Global South partnership, with both nations pledging continued support for each other’s development agendas.

India and Liberia also cooperate within multilateral platforms such as the International Solar Alliance and the International Big Cat Alliance, further cementing a multifaceted partnership that spans environmental, economic and security dimensions.
