South Korea, US Analyze Missile Data Ahead of Joint Exercise

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) reported that the missile was launched around 5 p.m. from the Wonsan area on the country’s eastern coast. While detailed technical data remain classified, the JCS said both Seoul and Washington are jointly examining the projectile’s specifications.

The analysis is part of heightened monitoring ahead of the annual “Ulchi Freedom Shield” exercise, expected to take place later this month. South Korean officials have convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Office, the Defense Ministry and the JCS to evaluate potential impacts on national security and to ready appropriate response measures.
