Six‑Year Streak of Over 28 Billion Kg Early Rice in China

Beijing, Aug 21 – Data released on Friday by the National Bureau of Statistics confirmed that early‑season rice production in China hit 28.029 billion kilograms in 2026. This continues a six‑year streak of annual output exceeding 28 billion kilograms, underscoring the sector’s resilience.

The acreage devoted to early‑maturing rice expanded slightly, a sign that policy measures aimed at bolstering grain production remain effective. Wei Fenghua, director of the bureau’s rural division, noted that the state has maintained a range of initiatives to strengthen agriculture, raise farmer profitability and promote rural wealth, which together keep sowing intentions stable.

Favourable climatic conditions—including balanced sunshine, temperature and water supply—have prevailed in most major-producing regions since planting, fostering strong crop development. The successful summer grain harvest has therefore secured a robust base for an overall strong cereal yield this year.
