Sitharaman Leads Indian Delegation at G20 Meetings in Asheville

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived in the United States on Sunday, ready to head India's delegation at the G20 finance summit in Asheville. Before the summit, she spent time in Chicago attending a series of events that highlighted India's manufacturing capabilities, innovation ecosystem and investment climate.

During a business round‑table, Sitharaman invited multinational corporations to set up production units, research hubs and innovation centers in India. She stressed that recent policy reforms are aimed at simplifying regulations for investors, manufacturers and tech firms.

The Indian team also met with senior executives from leading companies in agriculture, defence technology and hospitality to discuss potential collaborations. Notable participants included the executive vice‑president of an Indian EDM, the co‑founder of a fintech startup and the CEO of a global travel services firm.

After the Asheville sessions, Sitharaman is scheduled to travel to New York to engage with investors and industry leaders, concluding a six‑day U.S. visit that underscores India's push for deeper economic ties with the West.
