Sikh Extremist Group Accused of Planning Khalistan Vote in Alberta
Investigative reports have linked the extremist organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) with a planned vote on October 18 in Alberta, Canada, allegedly to measure support for an independent Khalistan. The group’s founder, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, reportedly posted a video urging overseas Sikhs to travel to Indianapolis and Alberta to participate.
The video, described as inflammatory, also hinted at the creation of a "Sikh Homeland Security" force and a "Khalistan Army." Analysts say the messaging targets young diaspora members who feel disenfranchised, pushing them toward illicit weapons training and gang‑like behaviour.
Canadian intelligence agencies have previously flagged SFJ and related Khalistani actors as potential security threats, noting a pattern of provocative videos followed by attempts to organise paramilitary drills.
