Series of PIA-Markedd Balloons Raise Concerns Over Cross-Border Activities
A string of incidents involving balloons bearing the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) logo has drawn attention from security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir. The latest, found in Ajmatabad village of Rajouri district, adds to a pattern that started earlier this year.
In February, two balloons with a 5,000‑rupee Pakistani note, a US dollar, and a local mobile number were recovered in the Aknur sector of Jammu. The same month, a green‑white aircraft‑shaped balloon and a yellow heart‑shaped balloon were retrieved in the RS Pura sector, both displaying the PIA branding.
These recurring discoveries, coupled with reports of drone activity across the Line of Control, have prompted authorities to implement area‑domination protocols whenever unidentified airborne objects appear.
