Senior Indian Diplomat Ngulkhham Jathom Gangte Assigned to Mexico

Delhi, 29 July – Ngulkhham Jathom Gangte, a 1994 batch IFS officer, has been appointed as India’s ambassador to Mexico, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed. Gangte, who presently holds the post of Special Secretary (Establishment) and is Acting Deputy Director General of the Indian Council of World Affairs, will take over the Mexico mission shortly. His diplomatic trajectory spans postings in Cairo, Rabat, Dublin, Dar‑es‑Salaam and Chicago, along with leadership roles such as Joint Secretary at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service. He served as High Commissioner to Zambia from 2017 to 2021 and later as Ambassador to Tunisia and Libya (2021‑2024). Academically, he earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and is proficient in English, Hindi and Arabic. The appointment underscores India’s focus on deepening ties with Latin America.
