Semiconductor and AI Patent Approvals Surge in July

Strategic emerging industries in China recorded a notable jump in patent approvals during July. Overall, patent grants in these sectors grew by 10.7% year‑on‑year. The most striking increase was seen in artificial intelligence‑related patents, which rose by 60%, a gain that is 21.7 percentage points higher than in June.

The semiconductor, new materials, and digital intelligence segments also posted healthy growth, with development indices climbing 11.6%, 8.9% and 4.8% respectively. These figures reflect a strengthening innovation ecosystem and a policy focus on high‑tech intellectual property generation.
