Digital Economy, AI and Green Growth Top Priorities for SCO, Reports Yermekbayev

Beijing, August 29 – In the same interview, Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev identified digital economy, artificial intelligence and green development as the SCO’s chief priorities for the coming years. He explained that the organization has adopted specific frameworks to boost cooperation in these sectors, including the launch of a China‑SCO Energy Cooperation Center and an AI Application Center.

Yermekbayev highlighted that the SCO’s agenda now places strong emphasis on renewable energy projects and high‑tech initiatives, aligning with global sustainability goals. He also pointed out that trade among member states exceeded $700 billion in 2026, yet the potential of multilateral projects remains under‑utilised.

The Secretary General urged member countries to leverage the newly created SCO Development Bank to finance digital and green infrastructure, reinforcing the bloc’s commitment to innovation-driven growth.
