Russian Diplomat Warns of Strategic Defeat Scheme by West
In an interview posted on the foreign ministry's official social platform, Sergei Lavrov warned that Western powers are engaged in a deliberate scheme to hand Russia a strategic defeat. He asserted that Moscow is fully aware of the narratives being pushed by European capitals and the United States.
Lavrov cited President Vladimir Putin's earlier comment that the situation cannot revert to the state before February 2022, underscoring the permanence of the current geopolitical reality. He said Western officials have begun framing Russia's future in terms of "colonial eradication" and a forced collapse.
According to Lavrov, the West's support for proxy forces in Donbas and its promotion of long‑range missile systems are being used to portray a turning point that favours Kyiv. He described these efforts as an attempt to destabilise Russian society and undermine its defense capabilities.
The minister called for a self‑reliant approach, praising the resilience of Russian troops and the public's comprehension of the conflict's gravity. He reiterated the importance of honoring the legacy of those who defeated Nazism and warned against any resurgence of extremist influences.
