Rio mayor urges aviation safety after helicopter crash in Tijuca

The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Cabelli, issued a statement on the social platform X after a helicopter crashed near the Tijuca National Park, close to the Vista China area. He extended his sympathy to the families of the four victims – a pilot and three Colombian women – and said the municipal government has contacted the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to demand immediate action. This call comes after two mid‑June collisions that left six people dead, highlighting mounting concerns over aerial traffic safety in Rio.
