Renewable energy and green hydrogen top agenda in India‑Spain talks

Renewable power and green hydrogen featured prominently in the Madrid discussions. Goyal highlighted India’s ambitious target to install 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and its plans to become a major exporter of green hydrogen.

Spain, already a leader in offshore wind and electro‑lysis technologies, offered to collaborate on pilot projects, joint R&D, and the creation of a bilateral fund to support commercial scaling. The two sides also explored opportunities in advanced manufacturing of electrolyzers and associated supply‑chain development.

These sectoral talks are part of a broader effort to align India’s sustainability roadmap with the European Green Deal, reinforcing the strategic importance of the EU‑India free trade agreement for clean‑energy cooperation.
