Regional Cooperation Gains Momentum after High‑Level Tehran Talks

The meeting between President Masoud Pejshakian and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran marked another step forward for regional cooperation.

Both leaders praised the existing rapport between Iran and Pakistan and called for deeper engagement in sectors such as transport, energy, and education. Pejshakian highlighted that the two nations together represent a significant share of the region’s demographic and resource wealth.

He argued that joint initiatives could address mutual challenges, ranging from water scarcity to economic diversification. The president also referenced the broader trend of stronger ties among Muslim countries, attributing it partly to external geopolitical pressures.

Naqvi affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to broaden its partnership with Iran, emphasizing the need for smoother trade channels, increased tourism flows, and collaborative cultural programs.
