Red Sea Boat Attack: Embassy Says 14 Indians Are Safe

Fourteen Indian nationals who were travelling on a boat attacked in the southern Red Sea have been located safely, according to the Indian Embassy in Yemen. The embassy shared the news on Friday.

The mission said the citizens are staying near Hodeidah in Yemen and that efforts would continue to ensure their security.

The Houthi movement had earlier claimed that Saudi Arabia had targeted a boat carrying Indian nationals near Jukar Island in the southern Red Sea. Military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the Yemeni armed forces were engaged in a rescue operation for those on board.

This latest development came one day after a late-night attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The Indian embassy confirmed that one Indian national was killed in the attack, which also left two other Indians injured.

On Thursday, India's Ministry of External Affairs condemned the repeated attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. It specifically cited the Dammam airport strike and the attack on the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province, both on October 21.

The ministry said the Indian Embassy in Riyadh was in touch with Saudi authorities and would offer all possible support. It also restated India's backing for Saudi Arabia's sovereignty.

The statement said attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure were unacceptable and must be stopped immediately. India expressed the hope that calm and normalcy would return to the region at the earliest.
