In a major boost for international commerce, the 139th China Import and Export Fair – popularly known as the Canton Fair – is gearing up for its grand edition from April 15 to May 5 in Guangzhou. China’s Commerce Ministry shared these details at a press briefing, emphasizing unprecedented growth in size and innovation.
Boasting 1.55 million square meters of exhibition space, the event will host 75,700 booths and more than 32,000 companies, including 3,900 newcomers. This expansion surpasses past fairs, with preparations on track for a flawless execution.
A standout feature is the addition of nine novel exhibition zones, marking a milestone. Highlights include smart wearables, advanced display tech, consumer drones, and courtyard living solutions. Total zones now stand at 179, reflecting diverse industry needs.
Director Wang Jihua noted that over 11,000 top-tier companies – recognized for specialization and innovation – represent a 5.1% increase. Impressively, 61% have adopted next-gen tech such as AI, 5G, industrial internet, and eco-friendly models. This tech infusion promises visitors a glimpse into tomorrow’s market leaders.
The phased format allows focused exploration: electronics and machinery first, then consumer goods, and finally textiles. As global supply chains stabilize, the Canton Fair remains a pivotal platform for B2B connections, innovation showcases, and trade revival post-pandemic.
