Record EV Power Consumption Recorded on First Day of National Day Break

Beijing – On the first day of China’s National Day holiday, the amount of electricity delivered to new‑energy vehicles on highways reached an unprecedented 280.469 megawatt‑hours, a 60.40% increase over the same day a year earlier. The surge reflects the growing popularity of electric cars for family reunions and eco‑friendly tourism.

The National Energy Administration had already instructed regional authorities to finish maintenance of charging equipment, arrange mobile charging solutions and reinforce guidance for drivers before the holiday began. These steps were aimed at smoothing travel for passengers heading to meet relatives and friends.

With more than 62,700 charging points monitored nationwide, the platform confirmed that highway service areas kept their chargers fully operational, offering reliable power to long‑haul EV drivers. The administration said it will continue to work with relevant ministries to strengthen monitoring and operation of charging facilities throughout the holiday.
