As a railway officer, he was earlier working as Chief Transport Planning Manager of Eastern Railway, Howrah. He has been promoted to the post of Chief Head of the Department of Operations Wing of North Eastern Railway on Wednesday. Anup Kumar is an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service. He belongs to Indian Railway Traffic Service and started his career in 1995.

After joining as Area Manager, Shahdol in 1997, he held various positions in operations in Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway. Later Garden Reach, Kolkata, S.E. He held key positions in traffic advertising. In Bilaspur and Nagpur divisions of Railways and South East Central Railway and for some time he also held the post of Senior Divisional Safety Officer of Raipur Division.

As Chief General Manager, Central Region of Container Corporation of India, he took the company’s business to new heights in Bhopal, Raipur, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Bhusaval etc. and was awarded as the Best Business Leader by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in 2020 Went.
