Quanzhou visit highlights centuries‑old India‑China cultural links
The Indian embassy in Beijing announced that Ambassador Vikram Doraiswamy’s recent trip to Quanzhou underscored the deep cultural heritage linking India and China. In talks with Party Secretary Zhang Yigong, both parties noted the importance of trade and investment while also celebrating shared history.
A focal point of the visit was the Kaiyuan Temple, built in the 7th century, where the chief monk Venerable Wen Shi De Sheng gave the Indian delegation a warm welcome. The temple’s intricate carvings and design elements reflect a synthesis of local Chinese motifs and ancient Indian artistic practices, serving as a vivid illustration of the longstanding cultural exchange.
The ambassador’s schedule also featured meetings with Wu Ken of CPIFEA and Vice‑Minister Hua Chunying, reinforcing diplomatic dialogue across multiple tracks and signaling a continued push for closer bilateral engagement.
