Quantum‑Safe Centre to Boost Singapore’s Post‑Quantum Security

The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and IBM have disclosed plans to establish a Quantum‑Safe Centre at SIT’s Punggol campus, slated for completion by the end of 2026. The facility will serve as a hub for organisations to evaluate their cyber‑security posture, transition to quantum‑resistant cryptography and up‑skill professionals for the emerging post‑quantum landscape.

The centre will feature a live test‑bed where companies and researchers can trial quantum‑safe solutions in realistic scenarios. It will also deliver executive education, professional training and applied research programmes, bringing together stakeholders from industry, academia and government.

This move aligns with Singapore’s broader effort to tighten cyber‑security across online platforms. Recent rules introduced by the Singapore Police Force tighten controls on messaging, social media and e‑commerce services, requiring user consent for group additions, removal of fraudulent ads and verification of advertisers. Violations can result in fines up to SGD 10 million, with a compliance deadline of 31 January 2027.

Together, the regulatory upgrades and the upcoming Quantum‑Safe Centre aim to safeguard Singapore’s digital ecosystem against both current scams and future quantum‑computing threats.
