Quad Ministers to Convene in Manila as Jaishankar Joins ASEAN Ministerial Sessions

Manila, July 22 – India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in the Philippines for a two‑day diplomatic itinerary that brings together ASEAN foreign‑minister meetings and a Quad summit. The external affairs ministry said the schedule reflects India’s expanding engagement with Southeast Asia under its Act East framework.

Jaishankar will partake in the ASEAN‑India dialogue, the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Regional Forum, all hosted in Manila. These gatherings aim to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that has guided India‑ASEAN relations for years.

The minister will also sit alongside his Australian, Japanese and American counterparts for the Quad foreign‑minister talks, focusing on coordinated responses to regional challenges, especially maritime security.

Bilateral meetings with the Philippine foreign minister and other regional officials will be held on the sidelines, while the visit aligns with the forthcoming 2026 ASEAN‑India Year of Maritime Cooperation, marking a milestone in collaborative oceanic initiatives.
