Leaders from emerging economies convened in Tianjin, China, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir were present, engaging in bilateral discussions with other leaders. Prime Minister Sharif met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. Following the meeting, Putin emphasized the significance Russia places on its developing relationship with Pakistan and extended an invitation to Sharif to visit Russia in November. Putin expressed hope that Pakistan would overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters. Prime Minister Sharif stated that the improving relations with Russia are due to Putin’s personal interest and affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening the relationship.
