PTI Pushes Long March as KP Faces Potential Provincial Coup

Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf (PTI) has intensified its long‑march campaign across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, framing the possible governor rule as an attack on democratic institutions. The party's leadership argues that any emergency declaration would amount to a de facto coup in the province.

The federal government, having completed emergency‑readiness measures, is waiting for the outcome of talks with opposition representatives. PML‑N figure Danial Chaudhry posted that a "big decision" is imminent within two days, suggesting the window for action is narrowing.

Administrative preparations include a roster of prospective deputy commissioners, secretaries and senior police commanders, with an early focus on twelve districts. While the list is prepared, the final emergency order is yet to be issued.

Protests have now entered a seventh consecutive day, with PTI urging citizens to defend the constitution. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi assured the public that a critical decision will be taken on October 13, and senior PTI leaders, including Gohar Ali Khan, are expected to confer with him on the crisis.
