Prince Rahim Aga Khan to Meet Indian President, PM and Leaders

On 9 September, the newly appointed 50th Imam of the Ismaili Shia, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, arrived in Delhi, launching a historic Indian sojourn.

The Imam’s itinerary runs until 15 September and features top‑level discussions with President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan—who extended the invitation—as well as sessions with the Home Minister and the Foreign Minister. A dedicated audience with the Vice President is slated for 10 September.

Beyond the capital, the Imam will travel to Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Hyderabad, cities where the Aga Khan Development Network runs a range of development and community programmes.

Prince Rahim succeeded his father, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, after the latter’s death in February 2025. His father’s philanthropic legacy includes founding the Aga Khan Foundation in 1967, an organisation now active in 18 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America, focusing on the poorest and most marginalised communities.

The India visit underscores the Imam’s commitment to strengthening ties with Indian leadership and advancing development projects under the AKDN umbrella.
