Prime Minister Modi Pays Tribute to Late Qatar Emir Sheikh Ahmad, Highlights Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media on Sunday to mourn the death of Qatar’s former Emir Sheikh Ahmad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Describing the deceased as a “visionary leader,” Modi praised the emir’s role in propelling Qatar to economic and cultural prominence.

The prime minister recalled meeting Sheikh Ahmad during his February 2024 state visit to Doha and reiterated India’s commitment to a strong partnership with Qatar. He extended sincere condolences to the current Emir Sheikh Tamim, the royal family, and all Qataris.

Modi’s statement emphasized the deep‑rooted friendship between the two nations, noting that the late emir’s policies had laid a solid foundation for ongoing cooperation in trade, energy, and strategic affairs.
