Prime Minister Modi acknowledges Israeli leaders’ greetings on August 16

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his X account on August 16 to thank Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog for their Independence Day wishes. He said the messages reinforced the "special strategic partnership" that India and Israel have cultivated over the years.

Modi’s post thanked Netanyahu for the heartfelt note that highlighted the parallel histories of the two nations and their joint commitment to innovation and progress. He added that this partnership creates a platform for new opportunities and deeper cultural exchanges.

He also responded to President Herzog, stating that India places great value on its friendship with Israel and is committed to further strengthening the strategic ties for the benefit of both peoples. The prime minister reaffirmed that cooperation in defence, science and technology remains a top priority.

The Independence Day celebrations in Delhi featured the traditional flag‑hoisting ceremony at the Red Fort, a 75‑minute address by Modi, and the first ever singing of "Vande Mataram" at the site. The prime minister concluded his speech by outlining the goal of achieving a "Developed India" by the centenary of independence in 2047.
