Prime Minister Orders Full Alert Amid Bangladesh Flood Crisis
Dhaka, July 12 — In response to the escalating flood and landslide emergency, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed every government ministry, district commissioner, police deputy inspector general, deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, civil surgeon and other officials to maintain a full state of alert.
During a virtual meeting with senior officials from all eight divisions, the Prime Minister reviewed the situation on the ground, including water levels, damage assessments, the condition of relief camps, rescue operations, distribution of aid and health service delivery. She underscored that safeguarding lives and property is the top priority of the administration.
The leader also directed law enforcement agencies to stay vigilant and warned against exploitation of the crisis through theft, hoarding, diversion of relief supplies or any other criminal activity, promising strict action against offenders.
