President Calls Khamenei’s Farewell a Commitment to His Vision

President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the nation during Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral, declaring that the ceremony should be seen as a promise to carry forward the late leader’s ideas rather than a final goodbye. He explained that the massive turnout and visible tears of the public cannot be orchestrated by any speech.

The procession, which began at Imam Hussein Square in Tehran, was led by the playing of Iran’s national anthem, a gesture that highlighted the solemnity of the occasion. Thousands of citizens gathered along the route, accompanied by senior officials, clerics and senior military personnel.

The bier will travel through Tehran’s major streets before reaching Qom for the concluding burial rites. To manage the large number of participants, 193 buses were stationed at Imam Khomeini International Airport, providing transport for both domestic and foreign delegations.

Pezeshkian’s remarks emphasized that the public’s behavior and emotional response are more powerful than any formal declaration, a sentiment he believes the international community will understand.
