President Announces Damage to Thousands of Homes After Major Quake

President Alberto de la Espriella announced that the 7.4‑magnitude quake destroyed or damaged 1,575 homes across the affected region. The disaster, which struck near San José del Palmar in Chocó at 7:34 a.m. local time, also crippled six airports, forcing a halt to commercial flights. The government declared a national disaster to accelerate relief efforts.
