Premier Emphasizes Disaster Management Reforms During Hebei Tour
Beijing, July 29 – Following President Xi Jinping’s guidance, Premier Li Qiang visited Tangshan in Hebei Province to assess ongoing earthquake relief measures and the city’s 50th‑year reconstruction celebration.
Li highlighted the imperative to apply Xi’s strategic instructions on disaster prevention, urging a systematic upgrade of monitoring, warning, emergency reaction, rescue, and post‑disaster reconstruction mechanisms. The aim is to safeguard lives and property more effectively.
At the Aneng Group’s First Engineering Bureau Tangshan branch, the premier inspected a dedicated rescue centre, reviewing its equipment inventory, recent missions, and future expansion plans. He interacted with rescue personnel, emphasizing the importance of professional skill development.
Speaking on the broader significance, Li stated that disaster mitigation, relief, and rescue are intertwined with national security. He called for heightened readiness, regular practical training, joint exercises, and the adoption of scientific, swift rescue methods to strengthen China’s overall emergency response capability.
