Hawaiian Electric released an update detailing the progress of electricity restoration after Lala. While Oahu enjoys near‑full service with 99 percent of its customers re‑energized, Maui follows closely with 98 percent restored. The Big Island lags behind, with three‑quarters of its grid back online and the remaining 25 percent—affecting roughly 17,000 homes—still awaiting repair crews. Engineers warned that some of the most heavily damaged areas may need up to fourteen days before power can be safely restored, as they replace downed poles, repair transformer stations, and clear extensive debris.
