Power supply across the central and southern Philippines is under pressure as the National Grid Corporation declared red and yellow alerts on Wednesday. Several coal‑fired plants remain offline, leaving the Visayas grid with only about 2,150 MW available against an estimated peak demand of 2,390 MW. Similar constraints affect Mindanao, where about 2,780 MW is available but demand may exceed supply.
