Police Investigate Shooting of Mai Subhai Bugti in Balochistan

Law enforcement agencies have opened a murder inquiry after Mai Subhai Bugti, a celebrated Baloch folk singer, was shot dead on September 3 in the outskirts of Dera Bugti, Balochistan. The victim, a member of the Bugti tribe and one of the first women to perform folk music publicly, suffered fatal injuries from gunfire by unknown motorbike riders. Police have recorded the case and are searching for the perpetrators.

The killing follows a similar high‑profile incident in Taxila, where Shamsu Bibi, a 28‑year‑old content creator, was killed in a targeted shooting that also wounded her sister. Authorities continue to probe both cases for possible links and motives.
