Poland-India Ties Gain Momentum as Tusk Visits Bengaluru

Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk has begun a visit to Bengaluru, adding a new chapter to the growing partnership between Warsaw and New Delhi. Tusk arrived at Kempegowda International Airport on Thursday night along with his delegation.

At the airport, Greater Bengaluru Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Krishna Byre Gowda extended a warm welcome by presenting flowers to the visiting dignitaries. Senior Karnataka government and police officials, including Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, were also present.

Tusk's India visit is scheduled from October 21 to 23. Earlier, he held bilateral talks in Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both leaders stressed their intent to deepen the relationship and move it forward with greater speed.

Official information released by the Prime Minister's Office indicates that the two countries are focusing on four major areas. These are doubling bilateral trade, creating a dialogue on the defence industry, starting a counter-terrorism dialogue, and increasing cooperation on disaster-resilient infrastructure.

Sibi George, Secretary (Western) in the Ministry of External Affairs, said bilateral trade reached 6.36 billion dollars in 2025. The two nations have set a target of doubling this trade by 2030. Poland is also set to join the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

Defence cooperation, supply chains for critical minerals, emerging technologies and renewable energy are also among the priority areas. The outcome of the Modi-Tusk talks is being viewed as an important step in converting the strategic partnership into concrete economic and security cooperation.

During the Bengaluru leg, Tusk will attend several business and technology events. Discussions on investment and technology collaboration between the Karnataka government and the Polish delegation are also expected.
