Poland Airspace Breach Amid Russian Missile Strikes Highlights Regional Risks
Early Thursday morning, an incident near Taranawa‑Kolonia in Poland sparked alarm when a powerful explosion created a ten‑metre wide crater on a field, shaking nearby homes. Polish authorities identified the blast as a breach of Poland’s airspace during a massive Russian missile barrage targeting Ukraine.
Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed the violation on X, stating that defence officials and relevant agencies were immediately mobilised and that a joint coordination team has been working on the ground for several hours to assess the situation.
European Council President Antonio Costa echoed the concern, noting solidarity with Poland and Ukraine’s governments and security services, and reaffirming the EU’s commitment to protecting civilian safety amidst the escalating conflict.
