Piracy Attempt Thwarted Near Yemen; INS Trikand Assists Cargo Vessel

While transiting the Gulf of Aden, the MV Golden Arsenal was targeted by pirates approximately 300 nautical miles ENE of Djibouti. The Indian Navy’s INS Trikand, already positioned in the Gulf, launched a swift response. Its crew boarded the merchant ship, inspected every compartment and confirmed the absence of any pirate presence. The vessel’s bridge sustained minor damage, but no lives were lost. Following a thorough assessment, the cargo ship resumed its journey under escort, while INS Trikand continued its anti‑piracy patrols throughout the Indian Ocean.
