Philippine Forces Eliminate Three NPA Members in Northern Province
Manila (IANS) – Security forces operating in the northern province of Abra engaged a suspected NPA cell on Tuesday, ending the confrontation with three insurgent deaths. Soldiers found the bodies of the three combatants and confiscated three modern firearms along with additional gear.
The clash occurred while troops were conducting a search‑and‑clear mission after intelligence indicated the presence of rebel elements. This incident follows a similar engagement on July 30 in Oriental Mindoro, where two NPA fighters were killed and another arrested.
Local officials have appealed for heightened public awareness and immediate reporting of any unusual activity as the army continues its anti‑rebellion sweep across the region.
