Peshawar Toll Plaza Attack Highlights Surge in Terror Incidents in KPK

An IED blast at the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway toll plaza on Sunday resulted in injuries to two police officers and damage to a police van. The explosion was reported near the eastern gate of the city, close to the Piran Jukori bridge. Police spokesperson Alim Khan confirmed that the victims were taken to a hospital for treatment and that a bomb disposal team was dispatched to secure the area.

Security officials say the attack underscores a worrying escalation of terrorist activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In July, the province recorded 154 security‑force deaths, up from 75 in June, and the number of injured rose to 98. The spike follows a series of high‑profile assaults, including a checkpoint bombing in Hangu that left senior police officials dead.
