Pakistan was struck by three deadly attacks on Tuesday, resulting in 22 fatalities. Officials reported that one suicide attack occurred at a rally in Balochistan, where a bomber detonated, killing at least 11 people. A separate explosion in the parking area of a stadium in Quetta, the capital, injured 40 individuals. Several members of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) were present in the parking area at the time of the blast. Another attack in Balochistan, near the Iranian border, claimed five lives and injured four. This incident involved a roadside bomb detonating as a convoy passed through a district close to the Iranian border. No group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a suicide attack on a base resulted in the deaths of six soldiers. An official stated that a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the FC camp gate, after which five suicide attackers entered. The official described a 12-hour gunfight that followed, resulting in the deaths of the six attackers. The group Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack. According to news reports, since January 1st, over 430 people have been killed in violence perpetrated by armed groups fighting against the state in Balochistan and its neighboring province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Most of the casualties are members of the security forces. The Pakistani army has been grappling with extremism in this province for over a decade, with a significant surge in violence in 2024, resulting in 782 deaths.
